Sitting on the top three floors of one of the finest Modernist buildings in London, this two-bedroom triplex penthouse approaches 900 sq ft of internal space affording impressive views of London's skyline from a large private roof terrace.
Built between 1954 and 1957 to a design by Denys Lasdun, one of Britain’s greatest Modern architects, Keeling House was renovated to an exacting standard by Munkenbeck + Marshall in 2001. Entering the building through secure gates and across a walkway bridge / water feature into the ground floor reception area. The apartment is positioned on the 14th, 15th and 16th floors, with lift access. The versatile accommodation provides an open-plan reception room, a main bedroom with east-facing balcony, a second double bedroom and a bathroom. The top floor is formed of a single open-plan room with floor-to-ceiling glazing on two sides and a private roof terrace with far-reaching elevated views of the East London skyline towards Canary Wharf. Secondary glazing has been fitted throughout. Keeling House was Grade II* listed in 1993 in recognition of its architectural significance. Although originally built for the local council, it was sold to a developer in 1999 with all apartments now in private ownership. The building has a concierge, and Hyperoptic broadband. Denys Lasdun’s original design for Keeling House shunned the traditional slab block in favour of a winged plan (four blocks arranged around a central service tower), which encouraged the occupants to interact with each other. Munkenbeck + Marshall’s thoughtful renovation earned a RIBA award and a Civic Trust commendation. The architects added a striking glass entrance area and an additional floor on top of the building.
